The flurry of activity for the Back 40 continues with a few changes in club leadership that we would like to announce. Read on for all the details.

We begin with some bittersweet news as club President, Bob Kartman, submitted his resignation to the Board during October’s meeting. Bob has decided to pursue career interests in Colorado and relocated there in November. While certainly sad news for the club, everyone is excited to see him vigorously pursue his latest professional adventure in a field that brings out his passion for engineering. You’ll likely see him back around the hanger on occasion as he plans to keep his roots in Fort Wayne and make frequent visits. We’re fully expecting Bob to rejoin the Back 40 once he settles back in Fort Wayne. His stewardship and guidance as President, and Vice President in the past, is much appreciated. We wish Bob all the best and continued success in his next adventure!

With Bob’s departure, the Board is pleased to announce that David Wilkins will assume the position of President. David most recently served as Vice President and has been an integral part of the many changes in 2019. He is known for his strategic thinking, open dialog, collaborative nature, and friendly demeanor. We’re grateful to have him assume this position for the balance of the 2019/2020 term and look forward to the guidance he will provide as we continue to shape our future.

The Board is also pleased to announce that James Reitz has accepted the Vice President position, replacing the opening created by David’s aforementioned move to President. James most recently served as Safety Officer, where he researched and delivered recommendations affecting membership currency requirements and insurance, among other items. He will continue supporting Back 40 as Safety Officer, in addition to his Vice President role. We’re excited and thankful for him to step into this position to bring our club fresh insight for the remainder of the 2019/2020 term.

And last, but certainly not least, the Board is yet again pleased to announce that Cameron Snider has assumed the position of Board Member At-Large, replacing Colin Gibb, who took the Treasurer position earlier this year. We’re looking forward to Cameron’s stewardship and input as a newer member of the club.
All other Officer and Board Member positions remain the same and the full updated list can be found on the Board Members page.
With these positions filled, we’re confident that the Back 40 Flying Club will be guided by thoughtful individuals who have the club’s best interests at heart, and will continue the successful legacy that has made this the premier flying club in Fort Wayne for nearly 70 years. There’s never been a better time to be part of the Back 40 Flying Club!
